Market DayThe region of pays de la Loire is largely
undi scovered, with unspoilt countryside
and many interesting places to visit. Most
towns have market days where local produce
can be sampled. There is plenty to do and
all within a short drive from La Returais.
In the local village of
Colombiers-du-Plessis
you can visit
Les Jardins des Renaudies,
a garden in an enchanting valley with 3000
species of plants.
Nearby is
Gorron,which has two supermarkets, a cinema and
a swimming pool. Market day in
Gorron is on a Wednesday,
where you can sample the local cheese, wine and meats
of the region.
There are many old towns to explore. The medieval town
of
Domfront with its historic castle, shops, restaurants and
street cafes. The castle was fought over for many years by
the French and English and now provides a dramatic vantage
point over the surrounding countryside.
Fougeres Castle
Fougeres is a short drive away and has
many attractions. The 11th century castle
is one of the oldest intact castles in France.
The town has many good shops and great
Saturday market.

Mont St MichelThe medieval abbey of Mont St. Michel is a granite outcrop situated in the bay of St. Michel and has been a religeous site since the 8th century.
Mont St. Michel is one of Frances most visited attractions, and can get very busy. Avoid the busy periods and you will have a unforgettable experience.
The beautiful city of Bayeux is well worth a visit, to see the famous tapestry which records the battle of Hasting in 1066.
The fairytale town of Dinan has scores of timber frame houses and cobbled streets.
Close to St. Hilaire at St. Martin de Landelles is a aquatic park (Parc de Loisirs Ange Michel). With over 30 activities there is somethin g for all the family.
